And Such Were Some of You

Have you read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11? Yes folks, homosexuality is clearly prohibited in this passage. And so many people honestly believe that they are “born this way” into a same-sex “orientation,” and this is their lot in life. This is just “who I am,” and it cannot change.

The problem is found in verse 11, where it says “and such were some of you.” It doesn’t say, “and such are some of you,” but “were,” “were,” “were.”

If they were this way, that means they are no longer this way. They have been changed forever by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And if they were changed, then you can be, too. I say this on repeat on purpose, because the world says the opposite on repeat. You are not stuck or trapped or predestined to live in same-sex attractions and behaviors. You can and should repent, and when you truly do, you will be set free from this bondage.

If you are living in homosexuality, whether openly or in the privacy of your own thoughts, you can be set free, and you can be set free as soon as you lay that sin down at the foot of the cross. And it is urgent! Paul was very serious in his comments here in 1 Corinthians 6 in warning people of the consequences of unrepentant sin.

Do you need assistance? Would it benefit you or a family member to talk with someone who Jesus has set free? I’d love to share the story of Jesus, as I’ve lived it and experienced it with you so that you can see that you can be set free too. Reach out on our contact page and we’ll talk.
